City of Crescent Springs
Charters of Freedom Dedication Ceremony
Lou Hartfiel Memorial Park
Sunday, May 5th, @2:00pm

The Dedication Ceremony will be at the Charters of Freedom site located here in Crescent Springs at Lou Hartfiel Memorial Park (800 Buttermilk Pike) on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00pm. In 2017 the City of Crescent Springs joined with non-profit Foundation Forward. Foundation Forward, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, educational project started in North Carolina to introduce all Americans to the Charters of Freedom and help preserve our American history. The Charters of Freedom are the documents that secured the liberty and rights for all Americans: the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.  Each have been memorialized in a setting in the Lou Hartfiel Memorial Park for all of Kenton County. The City of Crescent Springs is proud to be the home of the Kenton County Veterans’ Memorial, the Northern Kentucky 9/11, and the Charters of Freedom our most recent addition to the park.

Mayor Lou Hartfiel was key figure in designing and raising funds to construct the Charters of Freedom Monuments. In his last term as mayor, he labored to see the Charters of Freedom project come to fruition. The late Mayor was truly dedicated to making Crescent Springs a great place to live and work. Before he was elected as mayor, he served on City Council in the 90’s and again from 2011-2014. He was elected to the position of Mayor in 2014 and was serving his second term before his passing away on April 11th of 2021. The Charters of Freedom will be a testament to his patriotism and service to our country, and especially, to our city and to Northern Kentucky well into the future.
