Crescent Springs adopted the Army’s 101^st  Airborne, 1^st Division, 320^th Field Artillery Regiment (Golf Battery) based at Fort Campbell, KY in 2006. The 3 other Batteries in the Regiment were adopted by Villa Hills, Lakeside Park and Erlanger, and together, all 4 cities have supported the 1-320^th FAR through 3 deployments to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan. The soldiers returned from their Afghanistan deployment in April 2011, and are currently home at Fort Campbell. Another deployment in 2012 is expected.

Resident & Councilperson Lou Hartfiel serves on the ASA Adopt a Unit committee, along with representatives from the other 3 cities. The purpose of ASA Adopt a Unit is to support the soldiers; the 1-320^th receives support not only during overseas deployments, but year-round support for the soldiers and families at Fort Campbell from their adoptive cities. City money is NOT used for support of the 1-320^th; it is funded only through the generous donations from residents and local businesses.
