Kenton County Veterans’ Memorial The City of Crescent Springs is proud to be the home of the Kenton County Veterans' Memorial. The Memorial is part of the City Park and is located at the corner of Buttermilk Pike and Collins Road. The Memorial honors the service men and women, who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Desert Storm War and the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Councilman, Lou Hartfiel and his family have been the driving forces in raising funds to construct and maintain the Memorial. Pavers were sold and many residents purchased the pavers to recognize their family and friends, who lost their lives defending our Country. If you care to purchase a paver, they are still available by calling Lou Hartfiel at 859-341-9144 or stop by the city building to pick up a form. Every Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day ceremonies are held at the Memorial. Recently, a bench was installed at the Memorial to recognize the City’s involvement in supporting the Army’s 101st Airborne, 1st Division, 320th Field Artillery Regiment based at Fort Campbell Kentucky. For more information concerning the Veterans' Memorial, go to their beautiful new website: http://www.kentonvetmemorial.org_________________________________________________ Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial Have you visited the Crescent Community Park recently and noticed the base in place for the Northern Kentucky 9/11 Memorial? The Memorial will include renderings of the twin towers that once graced the New York City skyline. In the shape of a pentagon at the base, the Memorial will pay tribute to five groups deeply effected on that historic day: firefighters, police, the airline industry, civilians and the Pentagon. The centerpiece of the Memorial will be an I-Beam from Ground Zero that was procured by the Crescent Springs Villa Hills Fire/EMS. This site will be a history lesson to share with our children and grandchildren, and all we will have to do is take a walk to the park to share this experience. The 9/11 Memorial Committee has been working for the past several months to turn the Memorial into a reality. Funding will be primarily through private contributions. This is where you come in as a resident of Crescent Springs. If you or your company have an interest in contributing financially to the Memorial, please make your tax deductible check to KENTON COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL (memo: 9/11) and mail or drop it off at the City Bldg, 739 Buttermilk Pike.
