A MESSAGE FROM THE KENTON COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE

November 20, 2023- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW AUTO RENEWAL SYSTEM LAUNCHES IN JANUARY 2024

“Transitioning to a new computer system is never easy”, said Gabrielle Summe, Kenton County Clerk but added “But to minimize the down time the Transportation Cabinet chose the beginning of January for the transition.”

“If you normally renew your tags in December, please consider renewing online at www.drive.ky.gov or coming to the office by December 28, 2023.   Also, 2024 car taxes don’t get uploaded till January 1, 2024, so these taxes can’t be paid in advance.”  Summe said.

Clerk Summe is also encouraging anyone who needs to transfer a car, pay a delinquency, or request a handicap placard to come to the office before the December 28, 2023.

The transition from the old mainframe AVIS system to the new window-based KAVIS will start on December 29, 2023.  During this transition, the Kenton County Clerk’s office will only be closed on Friday, December 29, 2023, and Monday, January 1, 2024.

The Clerk’s office will be re-open on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, but will not be able to complete any auto related transactions.  However, customers can still come to the office to drop off their renewals, have their transfer paperwork reviewed and get vehicle inspections.  All other services including marriage license, notary, real estate and voter registration will be available.
